Degree of comparison

                 Degree of Comparison. 

Degree of Comparison digunakan untuk membandingkan orang, benda, atau hal. 

Ada 3 bentuk:

1.Positive Degree : Tingkat Biasa

2. Comparative Degree (Tingkat Lebih) 

3. Superlative Degree (tingakat paling) 

Example:

1. She is as tall as her brother. 

     Dia setinggi kakaknya. 

2. This book is as interesting as that one. 

     Buku ini semenarik yang itu

3. Budi is as handsome as Faris

     Budi setampan Faris

4. Honda is as expensive as Yamaha. 

     Honda semahal yamaha

5. My house is as big as your house. 

     Rumahku sebesar  rumahmu

6. My little sister is as beautiful  as me.

     Adik perempuan saya secantik  saya)

7. The weather today is as cold as yesterday.

     Cuasa hari ini sedingin seperti kemarin)

B. Comparative Degree (Tingkat Lebih) 

     Di gunakan untuk membanding dua benda

      / orang

    (Formula :adjective + -er + than) 

     untuk yang lebih dari  satu suku kata

1. My house is bigger than yours.

     Rumahku lebih besar daripada rumahmu

2 This road is narrower than the main street.

   Jalan ini lebih sempit daripada jalan utama.

3. She is kinder than her sister.

      Dia lebih baik hati daripada saudarinya.

4. Today is hotter than yesterday.

      Hari ini lebih panas daripada kemarin.

5. The test was easier than I expected.

      Tesnya lebih mudah dari yang saya kira.

6. He runs faster than all his friends.

     Dia berlari lebih cepat daripada semua

      temannya.

7. This book is more interesting than the

     movie.

     Buku ini lebih menarik daripada filmnya.

8. My bag is heavier than yours.

     Tas saya lebih berat daripada tasmu.

9. The mountain is higher than the hill.

     Gunung itu lebih tinggi daripada bukit.

10. She is more confident than before.

       Dia lebih percaya diri daripada

       sebelumnya.

C.  Superlative Degree (tingakat paling) 

      Formula   the + Adjective + est 

1 Mount Everest is the highest mountain in 

    the world.

    Gunung Everest adalah gunung tertinggi di

    dunia.

2. She is the smartest student in the class.

     Dia adalah siswa paling pintar di kelas.

3. This is the most beautiful place I have ever

     seen.

     Ini adalah tempat terindah yang pernah

     saya lihat.

4. He is the fastest runner in the team.

     Dia adalah pelari tercepat di tim.

5. This is the easiest question on the exam.

     Ini adalah pertanyaan paling mudah di

      ujian.

6. That movie is the funniest film this year.

      Film itu adalah film terlucu tahun ini.

7.This car is the most expensive model in the

     showroom.

     Mobil ini adalah model termahal di

      showroom.

8. She is the tallest girl in her family.

     Dia adalah gadis paling tinggi di

     keluarganya.

9. This smartphone is the most popular one

     in Indonesia.

      Smartphone ini adalah yang paling

      populer di Indonesia.

10.He is the most hardworking employee in

      the company.

      Dia adalah karyawan yang paling rajin di

       perusahaan.

D. Rule :Aturannya:

1. Kata sifat pendek (1 suku kata) → Tambahkan -er + than

   • tall → taller than (lebih tinggi dari)
   • fast → faster than (lebih cepat dari)

2. Kata sifat berakhiran -e → Tambahkan -r + than

   • large → larger than
   • nice → nicer than

3. Kata sifat berakhiran satu konsonan didahului 1 vokal → Konsonan digandakan + -er

   • big → bigger than
   • hot → hotter than

4. Kata sifat dua suku kata berakhiran -y → ganti -y dengan -ier + than

   • happy → happier than
   • easy → easier than

5. Kata sifat panjang (≥2 suku kata, kecuali -y) → gunakan more + adjective + than

• beautiful → more beautiful than
• expensive → more expensive than

3. 3. Superlative Degree (Tingkat Paling)

Digunakan untuk membandingkan tiga atau lebih benda/orang.

 Aturannya:

1. Kata sifat pendek (1 suku kata) → Tambahkan -est dan selalu pakai “the”

   • tall → the tallest
   • fast → the fastest

2. Kata sifat berakhiran -e → Tambahkan -st

   • large → the largest
   • nice → the nicest

3. Kata sifat berakhiran satu konsonan didahului 1 vokal → Konsonan digandakan + -est

   • big → the biggest
   • hot → the hottest

4. Kata sifat dua suku kata berakhiran -y → ganti -y dengan -iest

   • happy → the happiest
   • easy → the easiest

5. Kata sifat panjang (≥2 suku kata, kecuali -y) → gunakan the most + adjective

• beautiful → the most beautiful
• expensive → the most expensive
